Meet Kat, Director of the Cunningham Music School

Kat Bowman is the School Director of the Cunningham Music School and teaches piano, voice, and pipe organ lessons. Kat is a collaborative pianist and vocal specialist who performs and teaches in the greater Philadelphia area. She has been a teacher with the Cunningham Music School since its inception in 2017, and is delighted to now be the School’s Director. Kat is a dedicated educator, and has taught hundreds of private students during her career as a private teacher.

Kat received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the University of Maryland in 2005, and her master’s degree in opera coaching from Temple University in 2015, where she studied under National Symphony Orchestra pianist, Lambert Orkis. Upon graduation, Kat was the adjunct opera professor for the voice department at University of the Arts in downtown Philadelphia, where she was a vocal coach and staff accompanist as well. Kat has also served as a jury and audition accompanist for Temple, Drexel, and Eastern Universities.

Kat is the Music Director at St. Peter’s Pikeland UCC in Chester Springs, where she heads the music department, including the volunteer choir and the church band. Thanks to the beautiful Cunningham baby grand piano that the church acquired in 2016, Kat was able to found the St. Peter’s Pikeland Concert Series, where she regularly collaborates with a variety of professional instrumental and vocal soloists.
