A 1920’s Lester Grand Piano

In this video, we take a look at a Lester grand piano, hand-built in Philadelphia in the 1920’s, and lovingly rebuilt with modern touches by Cunningham Piano Company 10-15 years ago. The Lester Piano Factory was located where the Philadelphia International Airport now exists, and was one of the 4 largest Philadelphia-based piano manufacturers at the time. At the time this piano was built, mass-production had not been introduced, so instruments were hand-crafted in small batches. After World War II, Lester would go on to produce a spinet model called the “Lester Betsy Ross Spinet”, designed to be a durable, affordable piano. This Lester grand piano features a weighty action and a bell-like sound. We hope you enjoy this video!
