The Cunningham Piano Company is proudly owned and operated by degreed musicians who have always dedicated their lives to music. Because of that deep love of music and music education that the Cunningham Piano Company has always been based on, we opened the Cunningham Music School.
Our expert staff has at least a B.Mus (although many pursued higher education to reach their full musical potential), and all of them have years of teaching experience behind them. We supplement our second-to-none lessons program with numerous performance opportunities, classes, and workshops. That, combined with our highly consultative approach makes us excited to say that we are sure that no one offers as well-rounded a music education as the Cunningham Music School lessons program.

The Piano Program at the Cunningham Music School
Offered in both locations and through our online school

We have pianos programs that run from basic beginners of all ages, all the way up to professional coachings. Our teachers are able to help you build up your reading, theory, aural, and technical skills at any level. We have students that are neuroatypical and have physical limitations, we have students that are as young as five, and on the other side of the spectrum we have students that are piano teachers themselves and students hold degrees in piano and organ performance and are seeing us for a professional coaching–not to mention everyone inbetween.
Our piano program goes beyond lessons, offering our students performance opportunities, accompaniment opportunities, practical music theory, aural music theory, experience in a variety of styles, group-play opportunities, and experience in improvisational skills–all of our students are welcome to take advantage of that as much or as little as they would like.

The String Program at the Cunningham Music School
Offered in our King of Prussia location and through our online school

Cunningham Music School is THE one-stop-shop for string lessons on the mainline. We’ve taken our years of instrument buying expertise and applied it to the string rental world–you can rent or purchase your instrument right through us! We’ll talk to you and your teacher about what the most appropriate instrument would be for you and your musical goals and if we don’t have it in stock, we’ll have it in for you before the end of your first month of lessons. Until then, we have loaner instruments that you can begin your study on.
Our lessons program is second-to-none instruction in violin, viola, cello and bass: our beginner program has both Suzuki and Traditional instruction offered, and we have all of our young beginner students take part in a string group class to start building their ensemble skills right off the bat. Adult beginners are also welcome to take part in a beginner ensemble, but it is not a requirement for them.
Our string staff is equipped to prepare you or your student for anything–whether it be the basics in a beginner class or professional coachings after you’ve received your Bachelor’s Degree in String Performance, Cunningham Music School has a place for you.

The Voice Program at the Cunningham Music School

Voice Lessons
Offered in both locations and through our online school
The Cunningham Music School’s voice program is incredibly unique in that we are happy to take students between the ages of 5-12 (many vocal studios don’t take students until after their post-pubescent voices settle). Our young students learn the building blocks of solid vocal technique without over-exerting their young voices, how to maintain solid vocal health, how to use the different parts of their singing voice safely, and most importantly–how to sing pieces with complex melodies and rhythms in a safe range, and learn the basic theory behind the pieces.
In addition to our unique elementary voice programming, we also take private voice students from ages 13+. These lessons give students experience with a variety of styles, a strong technical background, performance experience, and experience working with an accompanist. All of our voice students receive music theory training, aural training, sight-reading, vocal technique based in the Bel Canto tradition, and the opportunity to sing in our school’s chorale ensemble (The Cunningham Community Choir), and training in acting and experession. We are happy to take students from beginners all the way up to professional coachings for students that have received their B.Mus in Vocal Performance.

The Cunningham Community Choir
The Cunningham Community Choir is Cunningham Music School’s summer choir–we are thrilled to offer a chorale program for singers to be a part of when their normally scheduled academic, community, church, or professional choirs are on break for the summer (we also have a limited amount of engagements during the holiday season for singers that are interested in visiting us outside of their normal season). The Cunningham Community Choir accepts singers from high school on up, so long as the singer can read music and is excited to be a part of a diverse group of performers!
The Guitar Program at the Cunningham Music School
Offered at our Cherry Hill location and through our online school
The Cunningham Music School guitar program is pleased to offer you a diverse education–whether you’re interested in pop, rock, classical, jazz, or even flamenco–our guitar expert has over 30 years of teaching experience and is reading to help a musician of any age or level realize their musical potential.Â
Our guitar program is made to prepare you for solo playing, ensemble playing, improvisation, and performance with a lesson program that is completely customized to your age, experience, and interests.Â
The Cunningham Music School Adaptive Music Lessons Program
Offered in both locations and through our online school
The Cunningham Music School firmly believes that music is for everyone–the young and the old, the tall and the short, and whatever other opposites you can think of. We love to see this reflected in our student body–a huge age range (our youngest student is 4 years old and our oldest students have grandchildren in high school and college), many many different languages spoken (currently, 5 languages is the most that any student at the Cunningham Music School speaks but we’re always looking for a new record), and many other wonderful differences that round out the Cunningham Family and make us who we are.
It is in that vein that the adaptive music lessons program was established: we want all of our students to have the tools they need to enjoy music. Adaptive music lessons means that although the lessons still have musical goals, the teacher (Ms. Marianne Sutin, BMus Music Ed, MEd Special Ed) is able to mold the lessons around the student’s particular needs. Our adaptive music lessons program is best suited for students who are neuroatypical or have physical limitations. Please note that our building and practice spaces are wheel-chair friendly. Our adaptive music lessons program is welcome to attend the main recitals, but please note that we also offer a sensory-friendly recital on a different day.Â
Why choose a Developmental Music Class for your Little Musician?
