Cunningham Music School Conducting Camp
Cunningham Music School Conducting Camp 2022
The Cunningham Music School is excited to offer a summer conducting class for high school students! All young aspiring musicians will need to know how to conduct someday in their music careers, but most music students don’t get a chance to try it until well into college. Conducting teacher, Ryan Peteraf, will be leading the week. Students will learn a broad array of beginner skills, such as patterns, technique, repertoire, and leadership responsibilities. This camp will look at both choral and orchestral conducting and their unique challenges. Students will be given the opportunity to conduct for their colleagues and receive one-on-one instruction in technique.
By the end of the week students will be able to conduct in basic time signatures including 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8. They will have learned about a variety of choral and orchestral pieces, and their historical significance.
