Bio: Ben Modica holds a Master of Music degree in piano pedagogy from West Chester University. For some years, he served as an adjunct professor at Alvernia College, (now University,) teaching fundamentals of music via piano, intro to music, American music, theory and harmony, as well as private lessons. Ben has also studied organ for many years and continues to study with Eric Plutz, staff organist at Princeton University. Ben has served a number of churches as organist including Augustus Lutheran, Central Schwenkfelder, St. Gabriel Roman Catholic, and others. Currently, he is the organist and choir director of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Green Lane. Ben has a number of original compositions to his credit, as well as a textbook for introductory piano, which he frequently incorporates into his teaching. He enjoys collaborating with other musicians as a choral, vocal and instrumental accompanist. In the Spring of 2022, Ben began teaching for the studios of Patricia Keith, who rescued him from a hiatus from teaching piano. As a full time occupation, he is a floating clerk with the Montgomery County District Court System, and is based out of the office of the Hon. Edward C. Kropp. Ben enjoys hunting for antiques, and is the proud parent of 8 cats!
