The Cunningham Music School String Program
No strings attached here at the Cunningham Music School–with an addition to our staff we are now offering string lessons to the full string section. That’s right–you can study violin, viola, cello, or double bass with amazing musicians and music educators right here in King of Prussia!
No instrument? No problem! You can purchase or rent string instruments right here through Cunningham.
Why Play a String Instrument?
String instruments have all of the normal benefits of playing music (higher test scores and aptitude in math and science for school aged children, higher IQ, heightened emotional intelligence, better social skills, better linguistic skills, you’ve heard it all before. If you haven’t, check out some research on the topic
here), but they also give an added bonus of better physical health. Students of string instruments generally see drastically improved posture within their first few months of study–with good posture comes reduced lower back pain, reduced head aches, increased energy levels increased lung capacity, and improved circulation and digestion.

Meet The Director of our String Department:
Steve Kramer teaches violin, viola, cello, and double-bass here at the Cunningham Music School.
Steve has been an educator for many years and in many places, working with a variety of students at different ages and expereince levels. Patricia Stewart, of Philadelphia’s Musicopia Music Education Program, has lauded Steve, saying: ‘Dr. Kramer, who has been the recipient of many international awards throughout his career, is first and foremost an outstanding cellist with an impressive musical education and performance history. However, it is his ability to connect with, and bring out the very best in, his students with which we are most impressed. Dr. Kramer’s quiet, unassuming style encourages even the most reticent student to draw bow across strings.’
